About The Position

As a Meat Department Lead at Sam's Club, you will be responsible for driving sales in your area and supervising a team of hourly associates to deliver high-quality products to members. You will model expertise in the Meat department and collaborate with other team leaders to ensure the club meets member expectations. Requirements

  • 6 months experience in a meat production department or 6 months experience supervising a team.
  • Successfully complete all job required trainings and assessments within a prescribed time period if the position is received.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Meat processing, including boneless and bone-in products.
  • Supervising Associates.
  • Food Handler Certification (Food Safety).

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the team within the meat department to deliver on the business plan and contribute to the overall success of the club.
  • Communicate department goals, execute company programs, adhere to policies, and advocate for members, associates, and the company.
  • Work collaboratively with other team leaders to ensure the total club meets member expectations.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of business on the floor, backroom operations, product updates, and product specifications.
  • Ensure the meat department meets company and regulatory standards for quality, inventory, production, equipment usage, safety, sanitation, and compliance.
  • Share knowledge and prioritize training for the team to understand item specifications and utilize approved equipment for high-volume products.
  • Engage with members and share passion for the product to help them make the right protein selection.
  • Leverage digital tools to plan for and drive sales, improve the shopping experience, and elevate associate engagement.
  • Utilize handheld technology to make immediate business decisions related to production, training, and product quality, and encourage others to use new tools.
  • Drive business results by ensuring commitment to operational excellence.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and safe work area in the meat department.
  • Utilize Digital Tools for forecasting, planning, and production.
  • Facilitate the product inventory and ordering process, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and accurate audit and compliance standards.
  • Ensure meat and seafood equipment and storage systems are in working order.
  • Produce and display merchandise according to the merchandise layout plan.
  • Teach and train the team by identifying training needs and developing necessary skills to deliver high-quality products.
  • Encourage career growth for team members and source new talent internally and externally.
  • Develop, communicate, and implement processes and practices to meet business needs by collaborating with managers, coworkers, customers, and business partners.
  • Analyze and apply information from multiple sources, monitor progress and results, and identify and address improvement opportunities.
