The Meat Deli Clerk assists the Meat Manager in achieving the sales and profit goals established for the department by efficiently ordering and managing deli section products stock and back stock. Additionally, they are also responsible for contributing to a positive shopping experience for customers, including assisting in maintaining department quality standards. Essential functions include ordering meat deli section items to maximize sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction while minimizing shrink. The clerk maintains a clean and organized freezer, follows procedures for stocking items efficiently, and ensures proper product rotation and quality control. They are responsible for maintaining stock levels on the sales floor and in storage, following approved procedures for receiving, pricing, and stocking products, and reviewing invoices for accuracy. The role involves replenishing fresh, frozen, and other meat products, preparing ground meat, and packaging and labeling fresh meat products. The clerk checks displays for out-of-stock items, moves products in and out of storage, and assists in inventory control to ensure freshness and turnover. Daily cleaning and sanitizing of the meat department are required to meet company, federal, state, and local safety standards. The clerk handles damaged and spoiled products according to company policy, monitors expiration dates, and helps maintain a favorable department image. Compliance with all safety policies, health regulations, and weights and measures laws is essential, along with reporting malfunctioning refrigeration or equipment. The position requires observing shift operating hours, greeting customers, and providing prompt and courteous service.
