About The Position

The Meat Cutter position at Homeland involves providing exceptional customer service while preparing and handling various meat products. The role requires a passion for food and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, ensuring that all meat products are cut, packaged, and displayed according to company standards. The Meat Cutter will also engage with customers, manage special orders, and maintain cleanliness and organization in the meat department.

Requirements

• Basic Mathematics skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Prior meat cutting experience.

• Knowledge of food safety standards and practices.

Responsibilities

• Identify various cuts of meat and breakdown, cut, and trim all meat products as directed by company standards.
• Weigh, wrap, and package products in a clean, neat, and attractive manner.
• Greet customers and respond to their questions, requests, and complaints courteously.
• Write down customers' special orders and requests.
• Review the perishable department Communication Board daily and follow guidelines for intercom announcements.
• Prepare and organize the cooler, freezer, and backroom for receipt of merchandise.
• Verify merchandise against invoices and inspect deliveries for quality, shortages, and damage.
• Sort cases for stocking or product preparation and code-date all items in the cooler/freezer.
• Load stocking carts/pallets and transport cases/products to the sales floor or preparation area.
• Match case strips to shelf/case tags and ensure proper placement of merchandise.
• Check product code/freshness dates and rotate products on display.
• Understand the operations and safety requirements of various equipment used in the department.
