About The Position

The position requires an individual to perform essential duties with accuracy and maintain a high level of productivity. The role emphasizes customer relations, teamwork, compliance with company policies, and adherence to regulatory standards in the meat department. Responsibilities include learning about meat, seafood, and fish products, maintaining inventories, and ensuring proper merchandising and processing of products.

Requirements

• City, county, state, and/or federal certifications may be required.
• Ability to write, speak, hear, and understand the spoken word.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operating manuals.
• Basic computer skills required.
• High School diploma or GED; or related job experience in the seafood and meat industry.
• Experience as a meat cutter is preferred.
• Basic math skills required for handling money, weight, measurement, and percentages.
• Minimum age of 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Exhibit and develop maximum customer relations through friendly and courteous behavior.
• Promote a high level of morale within the department and store through honest and open communication.
• Maintain good working relationships with other department managers to improve sales storewide.
• Comply with all company policies, programs, and directives as specified in the Code of Conduct.
• Learn and demonstrate knowledge of company and governmental regulatory agency standards for the meat department.
• Respond to questions from guests regarding ingredients, preparation, and related products.
• Learn to do the ordering and maintain proper inventories of products and supplies as directed by the Meat Manager.
• Identify, cut, process, rotate, and merchandise all types of meat products according to company standards.
• Function as a Fishmonger as needed, handling, gutting, boning, filleting, and merchandising seafood products.
• Properly file, rotate, and merchandise products in display cases and coolers.
