About The Position

The Measurement Technician is responsible for maintenance and troubleshooting of all oil and gas measurement equipment and other associated equipment for all Murphy's US Onshore production facilities in the Eagleford Shale (EFS). The Measurement Technician will need to ensure that these activities are done safely, meet regulatory deadlines and requirements, follow approved procedures, and are cost effective.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with measurement, SCADA or other suitable industry experience
  • Experience with production equipment including Electronic Flow Meters (EFM), Chart and Coriolis meters, LACT units, turbine meters and other types of equipment associated with oil and gas measurement
  • Proficient with CMMS
  • Must be able to work long hours in a demanding environment
  • Must be able to work a '5x2' schedule
  • Must live within 70-miles of Jourdanton, TX
  • Must be able to work weekends and on-call once a month or as needed

Responsibilities

  • Establishing a continuous improvement culture that challenges 'normal operations' on a daily basis
  • Physically inspect orifice plate and fitting
  • Calibrate any chart recorder, transmitter or Electronic Flow Computer associated with the orifice
  • Coordinate and witness 3rd party meter proving (EFM & Chart & Coriolis)
  • Prove LACT meters and turbine meters
  • Collect spot samples of crude oil, condensate, and natural gas
  • Collect composite samples and troubleshoot composite sampler malfunctions
  • Maintain knowledge and adhere to the latest industry standards and recommendations
  • Influence Maintenance and other Functions to adopt Murphy's 'management by exception' philosophy
  • Support the implementation of SAP throughout all aspects of operations
  • Coordinate all major repair activity using SAP
  • Ensure that critical spare list is evergreen, and that Procurement is maintaining the required inventory
  • Monitor KPIs around work order generation, tracking of progress and final closeout to measure performance
  • Assist in design and planning of all new customer connections and optimization of both new and existing LACT, field data, storage and terminal facilities where oil and gas measurement is required
  • Ensure all regulatory and compliance permits, reports and forms are accurately completed and filed
  • Coordinate all meter proving and witnessing as required by Murphy Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Interact effectively with other Functions (Marketing, HSE, Operations, Engineering, Accounting etc.)
  • Perform installation, problem diagnosis, fault analysis and repair of all measurement and communication equipment, operations computer hardware and associated equipment
  • Support special projects as deemed necessary by the Measurement Lead
