About The Position

The Measurement Technician at LyondellBasell is responsible for testing, troubleshooting, calibrating, and maintaining custody transfer and inventory meters, pipeline transmitters, shutdown devices, and process control equipment. This role involves ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards while serving as a representative of the company to customers and the public.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency required.
  • Associate's degree in Instrumentation Technology preferred.
  • Three or more years of experience in volume measurement, densitometers, flow and pressure control systems, or advanced test equipment for a pipeline company required.
  • Three or more years of third-party proving experience required if no measurement experience.
  • Pipeline experience is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of volume measurement, densitometers, flow and pressure control systems, heat exchangers.
  • Good driving record.
  • Basic computer skills and strong math skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret piping, wiring, and P & I D drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties in adherence with LyondellBasell procedures and standards.
  • Take personal leadership in daily activities, task planning, incident investigations, and work performance.
  • Provide accurate and timely communication to co-workers and collaborate with other functions to improve performance.
  • Conduct federal, state, and local inspections on pipeline facilities and associated equipment.
  • Solve problems that may interrupt pipeline operations or endanger personnel and initiate corrective actions.
  • Participate in the on-call system for emergency situations and maintain training for safety and emergency response.
  • Execute pipeline projects and inspect contractors working on projects.
  • Schedule and perform maintenance inspections of measurement sites and test equipment as per DOT regulations.
  • Install, calibrate, and maintain metering equipment at custody transfer sites.
  • Perform meter tests, proving, and witness third-party activities in compliance with various policies and standards.
  • Maintain process control equipment on the pipeline and ensure accurate measurement with orifice meters.
  • Keep updated knowledge of instrumentation and measurement equipment used on the pipeline.
