About The Position

The Measurement and Control Technician is responsible for performing basic measurement and control functions related to commercial meter set assemblies (MSAs), property line regulator assemblies, and small district regulating stations. This role involves installation, operation, repair, and maintenance of various gas measurement and regulation equipment, ensuring safety and compliance with regulations.

Requirements

  • One year of experience in meter shop, customer service, construction, or equivalent experience in plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and natural gas principles.
  • Successful completion of Measurement and Control Technician training course.
  • Knowledge of basic regulation and measurement principles.
  • Basic plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and natural gas principles knowledge.
  • Basic mathematics through algebra and ability to perform calculations including algebraic formula manipulations.
  • Basic computer knowledge and application.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electronic pressure recorders and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with federal code requirements related to gas measurement and regulation.

Responsibilities

  • Install, operate, repair and maintain commercial MSAs, property line regulator assemblies and pressure regulating stations.
  • Perform inspection and maintenance work on facilities to ensure safety and compliance with code requirements.
  • Utilize ruggedized laptop PC to download and graph data from electronic pressure recorders and document compliance inspections.
  • Test and calibrate large diaphragm and rotary meters to assure accuracy within established limits.
  • Install, calibrate and maintain mechanical and electronic gauges and pressure recorders.
  • Start-up, operate, maintain and inspect valves as required.
  • Operate and maintain odorization systems and perform odorant checks of pipeline systems.
  • Provide high pressure gas control for construction and maintenance activities and emergency response situations.
  • Perform security patrols at designated pipeline facilities in response to Homeland Security threat levels.
  • Complete all required paperwork legibly and accurately.
  • Operate measurement and calibration test equipment.
  • Promote good public relations and perform other duties as assigned.
