About The Position

Purpose: Deliver hot meals to homebound older adults within a specific geographic area. Primary Responsibility: Provides excellent service, pursues continuous improvement, and exceeds expectations. Typical Duties Daily Responsibilities: Pick up the daily route sheet and meals from the designated area at the Tooele Senior Center. Check the temperature of meals and ensure they are secure for delivery. Meal Delivery: Deliver hot tray and cold bag meals to each client on the route. Briefly interact with each client to confirm their condition and report any concerns to the Aging Services staff. Post-delivery Tasks: Return any leftover meals and temperature-checked meals to the Tooele Senior Center and complete the required paperwork. Vehicle Safety: Conduct a vehicle safety check before and after delivery. Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent
  • One (1) year of experience in general responsibility work, preferably in a public service setting
  • General knowledge of vehicle transportation and maintenance such as oil check, gas, fluid levels, etc.
  • Interest in helping homebound older adults and disabled persons.
  • Must have a valid Utah Driver's License and a good driving record.
  • Requires the ability to coordinate, manage, and correlate data.
  • Requires the ability to function in a managerial capacity for a division or organizational unit; includes the ability to make decisions on procedural and technical levels.
  • Requires the ability to operate, maneuver, and control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and materials requiring complex and rapid adjustments.
  • Requires the ability to utilize various reference, descriptive, advisory, and design data and information.
  • Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; calculate decimals and percentages; perform mathematical operations with fractions; compute discounts, interest, and ratios; and calculate surface areas, volumes, weights, and measures.
  • Requires the ability to apply principles of influence systems, such as motivation, incentive, and leadership, and to exercise independent judgment to apply facts and principles to develop approaches and techniques to resolve problems.
  • Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in situations involving the evaluation of information against sensory, judgmental, or subjective criteria, as opposed to that which is measurable or verifiable.
  • Requires light physical effort involving lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling between 25-50 pounds of weight in sedentary light work.
  • Requires mild differentiating in recognizing and identifying similarities or differences in colors, forms, sounds, colors, textures, and physical appearances associated with objects, materials, ingredients, and people.
  • Tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
  • Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
