If this description speaks to you, continue reading about the opportunity of MDS Registered Nurse. This is a full-time, 40 hours per weekday position located at St. John’s Home. Position Summary: The MDS RN completes the Minimum Data Sets (MDS) as assigned, while remaining open to learning and mastering other aspects of Reimbursement.

Requirements

  • Current New York State Registered Professional Nursing License required.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • PRI certification and AANAC MDS 3.0 certification within 18 months of hire.
  • Three years clinical nursing experience preferably in long-term care setting.
  • Working knowledge of MDS and Medicare A reimbursement.
  • Must possess good organizational, leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with Elders and care for their needs.
  • Technical expertise in MS Word, email, AOD and charting.
  • Willingness to embrace and exemplify St. John’s Brand Characteristics.

Nice To Haves

  • Long term care experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge in MS Word, email, AOD and EMR charting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Reimbursement manager as needed.
  • Complete nursing portion of all MDS for assigned units.
  • Manage documentation requirements for MCA and MCD.
  • Determine MCA traditional coverage for admissions/readmissions - continued coverage- cuts.
  • Set PPS ARD's.
  • Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and development, attends in-service programs that are provided to facilitate compliance with governmental regulations.
  • Coach nursing staff on how to assess, plan and implement a resident plan of care using the MDS process.
  • Plan and participate in conferences and classes to provide knowledge and practice in resident care.
  • Participate in nursing department quality assurance program.
  • Provide the interface for communication of resident care needs with members of other disciplines, utilizing an in-depth knowledge base to ensure comprehensive follow through on problems.
  • Compare and interpret previous and present data when problem solving and report in records pertinent data.
  • Recognize and report safety hazards.
  • Utilize knowledge base of group dynamics when working with residents, participating in staff and interdisciplinary meetings.
