The Project Manager with a focus on transportation projects is responsible for delivering Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and local agency public works infrastructure projects of all project deliverables produced by the project team, on time, within budget, in accordance with the firm's quality standards, and to the client's satisfaction primarily working with MDOT clients. The PM is also responsible for maintaining positive growing relationships with clients and cross selling all of the firm's services where applicable.

  • Utilize the Company's Project Management system and work closely with project team members for completing projects.
  • Develop and monitor the overall project schedule including time for Quality reviews.
  • Initiate staffing coordination with Transportation Team Supervisor.
  • Complete the Project Management Plan (PMP) and schedule and conduct project kick-off meetings.
  • Schedule and conduct interim review/progress meetings.
  • Work with administrative team to prepare Earned Value Reports.
  • Work with administrative team to update project staffing needs.
  • Prepare monthly Project Progress Reports.
  • Schedule all project Quality reviews.
  • Leverage existing client relationships and develop/cultivate new client relationships.
  • Assemble winning teams for pursuits, develop professional services proposals, and develop derivation of costs for work.
  • Prepare contracts and sub agreements for review, approval and execution.
  • Lead project team meetings.
  • Participate in professional organizations to increase firm's exposure.
  • Participate in training and development activities to stay current with industry.
  • Proactively provide positive influence and constructive input to all team members.
  • ABET Accredited bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Professional Engineer License.
  • 5+ years of experience in MDOT transportation infrastructure engineering.
  • Project management experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in managing road or pump station rehabilitation projects.
  • Broad understanding of bridge and large culvert design, including road related elements such as geometric, bridge hydraulics and deck drainage, traffic and safety, construction staging, constructability, and bridge planning.
