The Data Architect role will require an individual with a primary specialization in MDM architecture to help design the next generation of data management, platforms, and pipelines that advance ECRI’s mission of delivering safe, high-quality, evidence-based healthcare worldwide. This person will be asked to leverage creativity and results-oriented critical thinking to tackle complex challenges — from modernizing data models to designing robust pipelines and data warehouse architectures. They will apply their knowledge of gold, silver, and bronze layers, modern cloud technologies, and best practices in logical data modeling to ensure our data ecosystem is secure, scalable, performant, and ready for the future. This role will collaborate closely with IT Platform & Software Engineers in a healthy work-life balance environment that combines the innovation of a startup with the stability of ECRI’s 50-year mission to make healthcare safer for all.

  • Architect and implement scalable MDM solutions that support mastering various domains such as customer, company, product, and vendor data across the enterprise.
  • Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to define Master Critical Data Elements (MCDEs), data lineage, and transformation logic.
  • Design and maintain authoritative data models (conceptual, logical, and physical) and hierarchies, including legal and business views, aligned with ECRI’s evolving operational and analytics needs.
  • Lead the design, development, testing, and documentation of data ingress/egress, schemas, and related streaming/batch processing data pipelines.
  • Guide data warehousing strategies, ensuring proper logical modeling, metadata management, and efficient data storage for gold, silver, and bronze layer architectures
  • Collaborate with data engineers and platform teams to design robust ETL/ELT pipelines (batch and streaming) using cloud-native tools
  • Ensure data architecture meets non-functional requirements, including high availability, scalability, performance, resiliency, security, disaster recovery, and backups
  • Lead the design, development, testing and documentation of data models, schemas, and related streaming/batch processing data pipelines and business logic
  • Review, author and curate technical stories and solutions in support of business requirements
  • Efficiently communicate complex ideas, learn from others, and adopt standards
  • Creative problem-solver with strong communication skills
  • Contribute to driving multi-functional projects forward by working closely with business partners
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, system and database administration
  • Other duties, as assigned.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server etc)
  • 3+ years designing and implementing data architectures for master data management, data warehouses, data lakes, or big data ecosystems
  • Strong expertise with industry leading MDM solutions (e.g. Informatica, Semarchy, Profisee)
  • Strong experience with cloud data platforms — GCP (BigQuery)(preferred) or Azure (Synapse, ADLS) and how those platforms integrate with MDM solutions.
  • Deep knowledge of SQL, query optimization, and performance tuning
  • Solid experience with ETL/ELT pipelines and orchestration tools (Airflow, Data Factory, dbt)
  • Hands-on with at least one scripting or programming language (Python, Scala, .NET Core)
  • Experience with data governance, privacy, and security controls
  • Familiarity with NoSQL and graph databases (e.g., MongoDB, Neo4j)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 Suite of products (e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with DevOps technologies such as containers, Kubernetes, Ansible
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence
  • High level understanding of the Data Platform ecosystem - Infrastructure, Analytics and Applications
  • Experience with healthcare data warehousing preferred.
