About The Position

The MDE Evaluator reports directly to the MDE Coordinator, or MDE Supervisor in the absence of the MDE Coordinator. The MDE Evaluator provides evaluation for infants and toddlers using the appropriate individualized assessment activities to establish the infant/toddler's eligibility for Early Intervention Services and address the concerns of the family about their child's development. Identify infants and toddlers who meet one or more of the eligibility criteria: developmental delay, informed clinical opinion, or a diagnosis which has a high probability of resulting in a developmental delay. Complete evaluation documentation and assist families in creating functional outcomes for their children.

Requirements

  • Must meet Early interventionist qualifications.
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in early intervention, early childhood special education, early childhood education, child development, special education or family studies, and 1 year of full-time or full-time-equivalent experience working directly with preschool children with disabilities and their families.
  • Valid Criminal FBI, PA State Criminal and PA Child Abuse clearances.
  • Must have current ACT 31 (Child Abuse reporting certificate).
  • Valid driver's license and vehicle preferred.
  • Physical examination including TB test.
  • Child and Adult CPR w/AED & First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supports children and their families in a variety of settings according to the assigned program including travel as warranted.
  • Gathers and completes the Infant-Toddler Developmental Assessment (IDA) in the child's natural environment.
  • Discusses findings and recommendations with the team in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Participates in the development of the Individualized Family Support Plan (IFSP).
  • Educates team members, co-workers, and community members about the individualized plan while maintaining standards of confidentiality and ethical practice.
  • Coordinates the assessment process to determine the chosen outcomes, needs, preferences and capabilities of children.
  • Assists in identifying, securing, and using needed equipment and therapies.
  • Implements each child's individualized plan to achieve specific outcomes.
  • Completes required training education/certification in accordance with COMHAR, external partners and funding sources.
  • Ensures that all evaluations are entered into HCSIS within 24 hours.
  • Ensures that all staff are up to date with Teaching and Learning Collaborative (TLC) training.
  • Attends required County updates and completes 24 hours of ongoing educational credits.
  • Completes all required work in HCSIS.
  • Navigates effectively in EVOLV.
  • Performs other duties reasonable and related to this position as directed by related supervisors.
