About The Position
The Classroom Assistant for the MD (Multiple Disabilities) program at the ESC of Eastern Ohio plays a crucial role in supporting the special education teacher in implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with diverse needs. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about education and dedicated to fostering a positive learning environment for students with disabilities. The Classroom Assistant will work closely with the teacher to facilitate small group and individual instruction, ensuring that each student receives the support they need to succeed academically and socially. In this role, the Classroom Assistant will be responsible for reinforcing curricular and behavioral activities as assigned by the teacher. This includes constructing instructional materials, assisting with classroom management, and maintaining accurate records of student progress. The assistant will also help with non-instructional tasks such as filing and organizing supplies, ensuring that the classroom runs smoothly and efficiently. Additionally, the Classroom Assistant will supervise students during lunch, recess, and other activities, promoting a safe and supportive environment. The position requires excellent communication skills, both oral and written, as well as proficiency in computer applications such as Google Applications and Microsoft Office. The Classroom Assistant must be able to work collaboratively with the teacher and other staff members, demonstrating exceptional organizational skills and the ability to promote positive relationships with students and their families. This role is vital in helping students achieve their educational goals and in supporting the overall mission of the ESC of Eastern Ohio.
