About The Position

The MCES Systems Specialist assists in managing the networking and technical operations related to an interoperable, digital communication system for MS MedCom and additional divisions of the Mississippi Center of Emergency Services (MCES). This role involves complex problem diagnosis, support, and maintenance for communications systems, ensuring security, continuity, and stability of these systems. The specialist will also participate in planning network activities, monitor system performance, and provide expertise on wireless and land phone systems.

Requirements

• Degree (Associate's or Bachelor's) and two (2) years' work experience supporting telecommunications systems.

Responsibilities

• Performs complex problem diagnosis, support, and maintenance for communications systems for the divisions of MCES.
• Maintains security, continuity and maintenance agreements, monitoring and stability of communications systems and applications.
• Participates in the planning of network, construction, and/or relocation activities for divisions of MCES.
• Monitors communications systems performance and implements modifications for system optimization.
• Collaborates with leadership to facilitate growth of internal and external services of MCES.
• Provides direction and planning for an interoperable digital radio system for daily operational activities and emergencies.
• Provides subject matter expertise on wireless and land phone systems as well as remote deployment of such devices.
• Responds as part of the campus & state-wide disaster response system to provide computer, telecom, radio and logistical support during disasters.
• Assists in the development & maintenance of the UMMC Unmanned Aerial Vehicle program.
• Maintains appropriate documentation and records for compliance with FAA regulations.
