The McDonald Automotive group is expanding and seeking to add a Vehicle Appraiser / Buyer Apprentice to our team! Our Appraiser / Buyer Apprentices are trained by and assist our team of Vehicle Appraiser / Buyers to gain the knowledge and experience necessary to grow into the role of Vehicle buyers. Automotive industry employment experience is helpful, but not required. If you have a knowledge base of automotive mechanics combined with a strong work ethic, and above average writing and communication skills, this may be the position that you have been looking for! The Vehicle Acquisition Department is responsible for appraising vehicles (in person and via online submission), purchasing vehicles from wholesale auctions, purchasing vehicles from the public, writing the online vehicle descriptions each vehicle, approving repair/reconditioning work to be done for each car, and much more! With multiple dealerships, the McDonald Automotive Vehicle Acquisition Department is responsible for overseeing nearly 1,000 pre-owned vehicles at any given time. The job of the appraiser/buyer apprentice is fun, fast paced, and requires great attention to detail. If you love the auto industry, but are looking for something a bit different, then you could be the candidate we are looking for! Some of our most successful candidates in the past have had experience as automotive sales or service assistants. The keys to success in this opportunity are: A solid understanding of cars (makes, models, and general mechanical terms and meaning) Solid automotive mechanical aptitude, formal technical experience is helpful but not required. The ability to perform light duty work on your own vehicle or hobby/project car work is a plus. Ability to multitask and handle bursts of activity. Attention to detail and ability to work at a computer for most of the day. Great sense of teamwork and desire to go above and beyond to help the team reach collective goals. Above average writing and grammar—this position is responsible for writing our personalized vehicle descriptions. Working knowledge of the automotive sales industry—even though you won’t be selling cars, this position is integral to the sales process, and you must understand how it works.
