The System Engineering & Integration Team (SE&IT) is seeking a Responsible Systems Engineer (RSE) to join the System Concepts and Requirements (SC&R) team in Huntsville, AL. The successful candidate will lead cross-functional teams to develop system level architecture and requirements to influence Missile Defense Agency (MDA) incremental capability. The candidate will use Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to evaluate architectural impacts through functional and behavior analysis for the defeat of conventional and advanced Threats (i.e., ballistic, aero-maneuvering, hypersonic, hyper-glide, countermeasures, etc.) systems within the (MDA) mission areas. The RSE will collaborate in an MBSE environment to develop system-of-systems requirements via system/component trade studies and analysis, and lead the development of Change Notices (CNs) to MDA’s system specification to include functional, interface and performance requirements, architectural models, interface definitions, and support Trace verifcation from System to Element level requirements. The RSE will develop and deliver products (i.e., technical briefings, CNs) to support internal and MDA stakeholder reviews.

  • Lead cross-functional teams to develop system level architecture and requirements to influence Missile Defense Agency (MDA) incremental capability.
  • Use Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to evaluate architectural impacts through functional and behavior analysis for the defeat of conventional and advanced Threats (i.e., ballistic, aero-maneuvering, hypersonic, hyper-glide, countermeasures, etc.) systems within the (MDA) mission areas.
  • Collaborate in an MBSE environment to develop system-of-systems requirements via system/component trade studies and analysis
  • Lead the development of Change Notices (CNs) to MDA’s system specification to include functional, interface and performance requirements, architectural models, interface definitions, and support Trace verifcation from System to Element level requirements.
  • Develop and deliver products (i.e., technical briefings, CNs) to support internal and MDA stakeholder reviews.
  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field.
  • Requires 8+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 6 years of job-related experience.
  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
  • The RSE must demonstrate a strong technical background in architecture development, functional decomposition and allocation of requirements (performance, functional and interface definition) with system-modelling tools.
  • Candidate must have strong prior experience with use of MSOSA (Cameo) and DOORS and demonstrated knowledge in any of the MDA domain areas; including Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Glide Phase Intercept (GPI), Hypersonic and Ballistic Tracking Space Sensor (HBTSS), Fire Control, C2BMC, MDS sensors (EO/IR/RF).
  • The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to think critically and capture concepts in papers, presentations and discussions.
  • The individual must possess good communication/presentation skills and be capable of working both independently and within a small team environment.
  • The successful candidate will work in close coordination with the customer.
  • Agile experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience modeling or simulating missile defense applications or similar domains (air combat, air defense, intercept of ballistic targets, intercept of non-ballistic targets, space vehicles, sub-orbital mechanics, etc.).
  • Knowledge of ballistic and advanced threat systems (i.e., aero-maneuvering, hypersonic, hyper-glide, countermeasures, etc.).
  • Modeling and analysis experience in aspects of the missile defense system (e.g., Aegis Weapons Systems, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Glide Phase Intercept (GPI), Hypersonic and Ballistic Tracking Space Sensor (HBTSS), Fire Control, C2BMC, MDS sensors (EO/IR/RF), kill vehicles, interceptors, countermeasures,
  • Systems engineering experience with large, complex systems.
