Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced MBE Compliance Specialist to oversee and ensure adherence to all compliance requirements related to state procurements, state contracts, and Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) participation goals. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of state procurement laws and regulations, proven experience with MBE compliance monitoring and reporting across multiple jurisdictions, and the ability to collaborate across legal, operational, and procurement teams to protect the organization’s integrity and contractual standing. This position is hybrid, with a combination of remote work and in-office presence in Washington, DC Metro Area. This role will report directly to the Chief Legal Officer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; J.D. or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in state procurement compliance and MBE programs.
  • Broad, multi-state MBE program knowledge; DMV familiarity preferred.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable state procurement laws, regulations, and contract terms.
  • Review solicitations, bids, and contracts for compliance prior to submission or execution.
  • Maintain awareness of procurement law developments across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Advise internal stakeholders during negotiations and contract performance.
  • Oversee MBE participation goals and supplier diversity requirements.
  • Maintain broad knowledge of MBE programs and certification requirements across multiple states.
  • Track MBE commitments and utilization.
  • Prepare and submit required compliance reports to state agencies.
  • Coordinate with certified MBE subcontractors nationwide.
  • Conduct internal compliance audits and reviews.
  • Develop and implement corrective action plans.
  • Provide training and serve as internal subject matter expert.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize work
  • Excellent project management skills
