MBA Intern - Strategic Finance & Business Operations

VerkadaSan Mateo, CA
29d$63 - $86Onsite

About The Position

This is an exciting opportunity to help build the Strategic Finance & Business Operations function at a high growth, pre-IPO company. You will play a critical role partnering cross-functionally as a trusted advisor to various teams to drive business insights, decision-making rigor, and operational excellence, and help Verkada reach the next level of scale and operating sophistication in the process. We seek talented generalists who can engage at the most senior levels while still sweating the details.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a full-time MBA program graduating in 2027.
  • Ability to work at Verkada HQ (San Mateo, CA) for Summer 2026.
  • 2-5+ years of top tier professional experience. You’re coming to us from a Strategic Finance, Business Operations, Private Equity, Investment Banking, or other highly analytical role at a fast growing startup.
  • High analytical horsepower paired with strong financial modeling skills. You can effortlessly translate business concepts to well structured spreadsheet models, and are excited to learn new analytical tools and generate insights through data.
  • High attention to detail and strong strategic instincts. You are meticulous in ensuring your and others’ output is precise and error-free, but pair this with a strong sense for 80/20 to know when things “pass the smell test” and what is critical vs. secondary to an answer.
  • A growth mindset and comfort with ambiguity. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment that will require you to create structure out of ambiguity, manage often competing priorities, and pivot quickly when circumstances change.
  • Excellent communication and partnership skills. You can effectively engage with a diverse array of stakeholders ranging from sales reps to engineers, and build the credibility, relationships, and buy-in necessary to strike the delicate balance between partnering and constructive challenging that this role requires. Fantastic written and verbal communication skills are a must.
  • A team player with a low “ego to smarts ratio”. You bring a positive, learn-it-all (not know-it-all) energy to your teams, and are generally known for being great to work with. Life is short… we want to enjoy the time we spend with our colleagues!

Responsibilities

  • Drive cross-functional projects across Go-to-Market, Product, Supply Chain, Operations, and other functions. (You should expect to tackle 2-3 projects over the course of the internship.)
  • Building business cases for new initiatives
  • Improving our forecasting capabilities and strategic / financial planning processes
  • Defining key metrics and setting up dashboards to improve our business visibility
  • Solving complex operational issues

Benefits

  • Healthy lunches and dinners provided daily
  • Monthly housing stipend (in addition to hourly wage)
  • Fully-covered flights to-and-from our San Mateo HQ office
  • Intern events and mixers
