The Mayo Clinic Health System (MCHS) is seeking a visionary and strategic leader to serve as the Chair of the Hematology-Oncology department. This role is pivotal in creating and implementing a bold strategic plan aimed at enhancing the service line's quality, safety, efficiency, patient experience, and staff satisfaction. The Chair will oversee the development and management of Hematology-Oncology healthcare services across MCHS, ensuring they are integrated, coordinated, and fiscally successful. This position offers a unique opportunity to integrate research and practice, particularly in building a robust community-based cancer clinical trials program in collaboration with the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Chair will work closely with MCHS leadership and allied health staff to develop forward-looking strategies that meet the needs of hematology and oncology patients, utilizing specialty expertise and innovative solutions such as e-health. In addition to leading the clinical practice, the Chair will be responsible for recruiting, developing, coaching, and mentoring physician colleagues, while keeping MCHS leadership informed about the performance of the Hematology-Oncology team. The role involves collaboration with various departments within Mayo Clinic to create a continuum of cancer care and facilitate patient navigation. The Chair will also represent MCHS within the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Hematology/Oncology Specialty Council, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and best practices. The desired outcomes for this position include elevating the Hematology-Oncology practice to a premier integrated service, expanding access to high-quality cancer care, and developing a comprehensive Cancer Clinical Trials Program across MCHS. The Chair will strive to create a consistent standard of care throughout the system, promoting diversity and fostering productive working relationships among staff.
