About The Position

The faculty member will teach mathematics courses or computer science, depending on qualifications. The position also includes teaching a section of Research Methods with support from the Lead Research Teacher. In addition to instructional responsibilities, all CVGS faculty members perform various administrative and supervisory duties as assigned by the Governor’s School Director.

Requirements

  • Candidate must possess or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in secondary mathematics or computer science.
  • Candidate must possess strong instructional, interpersonal, organizational, and administrative skills; must demonstrate initiative and independence while accomplishing all instructional and administrative objectives; and must work effectively and collegially within the framework of a unique school environment that requires continual learning and flexibility in order to adapt to emerging technologies and students’ interests.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience teaching advanced mathematics or computer science is preferred.
  • Experience teaching gifted and talented students is preferred.
  • Dual Enrollment qualification (18 graduate hours in mathematics or computer science) is preferred.
  • Endorsement in PreK-12 Administration and Supervision is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction in mathematics or computer science and Research Methods with the guidance of the lead research instructor, fulfilling all corresponding instructional and administrative responsibilities.
  • Teach senior seminar technology labs as assigned, with all associated functions and responsibilities.

  • Perform additional administrative duties and tasks as assigned by the Governor’s School Director.
