About The Position

The School District of Clayton is seeking a Math teacher for the 2026-2027 school year at Wydown Middle School. The successful candidate will have an academic background in mathematics. Math teachers guide students to see the interconnectedness and application of the mathematics topics they study. Our district values the ability to work with diverse students and colleagues; success in creating inclusive classrooms; and experience with a variety of teaching methods and curricular perspectives. The Successful Candidate : Possesses knowledge about middle school philosophy and the developmental needs of adolescents and will be able to present the curriculum using a problem-centered approach Demonstrates appropriate long and short term preparation for classroom instruction Holds high expectations for all students and sees themselves as facilitators of student learning Organizes and uses a variety of teaching techniques, strategies, materials, and technology to maximize the learning of each child, individually and in group settings Assesses student progress, provides students and parents with specific feedback, and uses the results to adjust instruction as needed Provides opportunities for academic support and challenge Takes responsibility for teaching the District curriculum as outlined in the curriculum documents Demonstrates an understanding of how knowledge in their subject areas is created, organized, and linked to other disciplines and life experiences Keeps abreast of current developments in their field and continues to deepen their understanding of their discipline(s) Establishes and maintains a functional, attractive, orderly, and safe classroom environment that is conducive to student learning and builds a sense of community

Requirements

  • Academic background in mathematics
  • Ability to work with diverse students and colleagues
  • Success in creating inclusive classrooms
  • Experience with a variety of teaching methods and curricular perspectives
  • Knowledge about middle school philosophy and the developmental needs of adolescents
  • Bachelor's Degree required. Major or Minor in content area preferred. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • The successful candidate must be proficient at the Algebra II level. An assessment will be given to ensure proficiency.
  • Missouri teacher certification, with required endorsements for subject and level assigned.
