About The Position

The High School Math Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based mathematics instruction to students in grades 9–12. The teacher fosters critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and mathematical reasoning while creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes academic growth and student success.

Requirements

Exceptional knowledge of the needs of students.
Knowledge needed to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and to speak effectively with middle-aged students and/or employees in a school environment.
Knowledge of federal and state education laws and regulations.
Knowledge of effective and innovative instructional and student evaluation techniques.
Strong Knowledge of high school mathematics.
Strong skills in classroom management, collaboration, and differentiated instruction.
Strong communication skills with students, staff, administration, and the public.
Understanding a child’s behavior and dynamics.
Skilled in problem solving and patience.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community.
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
Ability to fulfill the dexterity and physical requirements of the work and effectively attend to students.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Application of percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations is required.
Ability to integrate real-world applications into math instruction.
South Carolina certification in Secondary Math
Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License or ability to provide own transportation
Prior to beginning employment, negative tb test results must be provided

Responsibilities

Plan, prepare, and deliver effective math instruction aligned with curriculum standards (e.g., Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics).
Develop lesson plans that accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
Assess student learning through assignments, quizzes, tests, and projects; provide timely and constructive feedback.
Use a variety of instructional strategies and technology to enhance student engagement.
Maintain accurate records of student progress and grades.
Establish and enforce classroom expectations that support a positive learning environment.
Identify students who need additional support and provide intervention or enrichment as needed.
Communicate regularly with students, parents/guardians, and school staff regarding academic progress and behavior.
Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional strategies, and school initiatives.
Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school events.
Uphold school policies, academic integrity, and student safety standards.
Demonstrates a strong passion for working with children and a student-centered mindset that prioritizes safety, inclusion, and engagement.
