About The Position

The High School Math Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based mathematics instruction to students in grades 9–12. The teacher fosters critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and mathematical reasoning while creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes academic growth and student success.

Requirements

  • Exceptional knowledge of the needs of students.
  • Knowledge needed to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and to speak effectively with middle-aged students and/or employees in a school environment.
  • Knowledge of federal and state education laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of effective and innovative instructional and student evaluation techniques.
  • Strong Knowledge of high school mathematics.
  • Strong skills in classroom management, collaboration, and differentiated instruction.
  • Strong communication skills with students, staff, administration, and the public.
  • Understanding a child’s behavior and dynamics.
  • Skilled in problem solving and patience.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
  • Ability to fulfill the dexterity and physical requirements of the work and effectively attend to students.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Application of percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations is required.
  • Ability to integrate real-world applications into math instruction.
  • South Carolina certification in Secondary Math
  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License or ability to provide own transportation
  • Prior to beginning employment, negative tb test results must be provided

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver effective math instruction aligned with curriculum standards (e.g., Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics).
  • Develop lesson plans that accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Assess student learning through assignments, quizzes, tests, and projects; provide timely and constructive feedback.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies and technology to enhance student engagement.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and grades.
  • Establish and enforce classroom expectations that support a positive learning environment.
  • Identify students who need additional support and provide intervention or enrichment as needed.
  • Communicate regularly with students, parents/guardians, and school staff regarding academic progress and behavior.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional strategies, and school initiatives.
  • Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school events.
  • Uphold school policies, academic integrity, and student safety standards.
  • Demonstrates a strong passion for working with children and a student-centered mindset that prioritizes safety, inclusion, and engagement.
