Academy of Hope Adult Public Charter School (AoH) is seeking a skilled and mission-driven Math Teachers to join our academic team serving adult learners across Washington, DC. This role is ideal for an educator who thrives in nontraditional classrooms, values relationship-based teaching, and understands that adult learners bring lived experience, responsibilities, and resilience into the classroom. Our Math Teachers play a critical role in helping learners build foundational numeracy, master GED-level math content, and develop the confidence and problem-solving skills needed for postsecondary education, training, and career pathways. The Math Teachers are responsible for delivering in-person mathematics instruction to adult learners preparing for High School Equivalency exams (GED or National External Diploma Program) and strengthening quantitative skills applicable to real-world and workforce contexts. Instruction spans multiple instructional levels and requires intentional differentiation, data-driven decision-making, and culturally responsive practices. This role is both instructional and relational. Successful Math Teachers at AoH create classrooms that are structured, engaging, and affirming — where adult learners feel respected, supported, and challenged.
