About The Position

Canton High School is seeking a dynamic and exceptional Math Teacher for a permanent, full-time position. The role involves joining a supportive team dedicated to fostering collaboration, creativity, and commitment to the educational goals of the District. The teacher will contribute to an inclusive community serving over 900 students in grades 9-12, focusing on academic growth and social-emotional learning through a rigorous and equitable curriculum.

Requirements

  • Valid Massachusetts DESE teacher certification in Mathematics, 8-12.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) endorsement.
  • Highly Qualified as per Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
  • Proven ability to relate to a variety of constituencies, including administrators, parents/guardians, teachers, students, and other school staff.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Google Suite and other instructional technology platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional practices that facilitate active learning experiences.
  • Develop lesson plans and written curriculum that align with the state standards.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
  • Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs.
  • Use relevant instructional technology to support a variety of learning styles.
  • Observe and evaluate student's performance and development.
  • Assign and grade assignments and assessments through a variety of methods.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom and throughout the school community.
  • Participate in department and school/staff meetings and professional development sessions.
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents/guardians regarding student progress and needs.
  • Keep up to date with advancements in subject area curriculum, teaching resources, and instructional practices and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.
