About The Position

The MATH Teacher (Secondary Teacher) will provide guidance and instructional experiences that are academically and developmentally appropriate for each student assigned to that classroom. The teacher will demonstrate knowledge of the content area and approved curriculum, utilize a variety of teaching methods, and communicate effectively with students to enhance their learning and understanding. The role requires managing the educational setting to promote positive student behavior and a safe environment, recognizing student diversity, and working collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and community members.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree.
  • A valid New Mexico teaching license with endorsements as needed.
  • Highly Qualified Status.
  • Must be able to pass employment verification.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately demonstrate knowledge of the content area and approved curriculum.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources for each area taught.
  • Communicate with and obtain feedback from students to enhance learning.
  • Comprehend and apply principles of student growth, development, and learning.
  • Utilize student assessment techniques and procedures.
  • Manage the educational setting to promote positive student behavior.
  • Recognize student diversity and create a conducive atmosphere for involvement.
  • Examine and implement change as appropriate.
  • Work productively with colleagues, parents, and community members.
  • Meet professional requirements and responsibilities.
  • Supervise paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom.
  • Complete other tasks as deemed appropriate by the supervisor.
  • Comply with Ethical Responsibility of the Education Profession Standards.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Communicate accurate information to students.
  • Manage time appropriately.
  • Create a positive atmosphere and arrange the classroom for optimum learning.
  • Prepare for instruction and show written evidence of preparation.
  • Protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate records and report progress to parents.
  • Attend and participate in meetings.
  • Complete assigned duties (hall, bus, etc.).
  • Leave adequate preparations for a substitute.
  • Develop and implement classroom management strategies.
  • Encourage cooperation between students.
  • Maintain student involvement in tasks.
  • Use conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrate public relations skills.
  • Adapt the curriculum to meet individual student needs.
  • Use current technology for instruction and management.
  • Use data to improve the instructional program.
  • Be available to parents, students, administration, and peers outside school hours.
  • Report suspected child abuse and neglect.
  • Be responsible for students on field trips.
