About The Position

This is a professional position to meet the instructional goals of the school and school system by delivering instructional program support effectively to ensure student achievement.

Requirements

  • At least five (5) years of successful teaching
  • A Master's Degree or equivalent course work
  • Knowledge of current research and best practices in assessment and instruction
  • Proficiency in the use of instructional technology
  • Demonstrated initiative and leadership in mathematics teaching
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must possess or be eligible to receive Maryland State Teacher Certification in relevant certification areas

Responsibilities

  • Support teachers in the implementation of best practices through coaching, reviewing student work, modeling, co-teaching, and providing feedback in response to classroom visits
  • Assist in the implementation of the standards-based curriculum with fidelity in order to positively impact student achievement
  • Collaborate with the principal, supervisor and other instructional coaches to plan and deliver professional development for teachers in alignment with the Maryland Professional Development Standards
  • Provide instructional leadership to teacher teams during school-based content meetings
  • Collaborate with teachers to promote best instructional practices that facilitate student learning
  • Provide non-evaluative feedback to teachers that includes action steps and/or strategies to improve standards-driven instruction
  • Collaborate with teachers to collect and to analyze student performance data to support instructional decisions
  • Collect, interpret, and utilize formative and summative assessment data as part of a school leadership team to monitor progress toward school improvement goals
  • Diagnose the needs and strengths of students and prescribe appropriate instructional methods, strategies, materials and interventions
  • Make provision to be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day (e.g. content nights, afterschool programs, etc.) when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms
  • Coordinate the school-based intervention programs in collaboration with the Principal, Supervisor, and teachers of intervention programs as needed.
  • Meet with Supervisor regularly to evaluate the effectiveness of the math program as based on school improvement goals
  • Support system-wide goals by acting as a liaison between teachers as well as school and district leadership
  • Attend professional meetings and professional development workshops pertaining to mathematics instruction
  • Support administration of state and local assessments
  • Perform other duties as required by the Supervisor of Instruction
