About The Position

Under the supervision of a certified math teacher or site administrator, the Title 1 math paraprofessional provides academic support to students, particularly those who are underperforming in mathematics. The position requires excellent communication skills, patience, and a strong foundational knowledge of math principles to help reinforce instruction and improve student achievement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Associates degree or pass paraprofessional assessment as required by Title 1
  • Foundational knowledge of mathematical concepts and problem-solving
  • Work history of good attendance, dependability, and punctuality
  • Ability to work effectively without close supervision
  • Ability to follow instructional and work cooperatively as a part of an educational team
  • Effective written and oral communication with students and teachers
  • Ability to work with students who may have varying learning styles and emotional needs
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prepare materials, and maintain accurate records
  • Demonstrated computer skills appropriate for the position

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and respect confidentiality of all information acquired.
  • Assist the teacher in developing and preparing instructional materials and learning exercises
  • Provide one-one and small group tutoring to reinforce math skills and concepts
  • Monitor and record student progress.
  • Assist with classroom management by monitoring student behavior and ensuing rules are followed.
  • Supervise students during non-instructional times, such as transitions between classes.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers and other staff o coordinate instructional efforts.
  • Utilize technology, such as educational software, to enhance student access to math learning resources
  • Attend required staff meetings and professional development workshops.
  • Perform all other duties as may be assigned for the benefit of school programs.
