About The Position

The Department of Mathematics, Computer and Information Sciences at SUNY Old Westbury is seeking part-time Math Lab Support Tutors who will work in the Math Redesign Lab to help students in Powertrack Math, College Algebra, Applied Statistics and Quantitative Decision Making courses as assigned by the Coordinator of the program. As Tutors, they will work with students one-on-one and in groups. This is a part-time, college year, as needed, hourly paid position. SUNY Old Westbury serves large populations of underrepresented, first-generation, and non-traditional students. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Demonstrated competencies in Mathematics.
  • Demonstrated excellent person-to-person communication skills; a positive attitude, patience, dependability, and a strong desire to help students gain confidence and increase their competence in mathematics.

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching or tutoring experience in Mathematics.
  • Master's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Applied Mathematics or equivalent.
