About The Position

The position involves overseeing and assisting students in the use of an instructional mathematics laboratory while maintaining a proper study atmosphere. Responsibilities include following procedures for entering passwords for quizzes, tests, and exams, as well as monitoring students during testing. The role also requires tutoring students on an individual basis in various fields of Mathematics and assisting in filing, administering, and maintaining records for testing of students in both credit and Developmental Mathematics for the Testing Center in the Math Lab. Additionally, the position entails maintaining current knowledge of updates in math software and hardware in the Math Labs, providing assistance to students in using math software, checking out calculators to students and/or faculty, answering desk phone calls, and taking messages for the Math Lab Team Lead or faculty. The role includes mentoring new lab aides, maintaining the math lab in a clean and orderly condition, and assisting the Division Chair in determining supplies, materials, and equipment needs for the lab. A key aspect of the position is demonstrating sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED, required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Pearson's MyMathLab software, preferred.
  • Experience in tutoring math, preferred.

Responsibilities
