About The Position

Wethersfield High School has an immediate opening for a full time position as Math Interventionist/Coach. Successful candidates will be responsible for the creation and implementation of engaging lessons aligned with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). We are looking for a motivated and dedicated professional with superior collaboration skills to fill this opening. We are seeking a passionate and innovative Math Interventionist/Coach dedicated to supporting both students and teachers in achieving our Vision of the Graduate-Communicator, Problem-Solver, and Collaborator-equipping students for success in an ever-evolving world. The ideal candidate will provide targeted, small-group and individualized interventions that build mathematical reasoning, confidence, and problem-solving skills for students. In addition, they will serve as a coach and partner to teachers, modeling effective practices, facilitating professional learning, and supporting the integration of research-based strategies into classroom instruction.

Requirements

• Master's Degree is preferred, but not required.
• Position requires the appropriate CT Certification in Mathematics (029).
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.
• Ability to meet deadlines with time constraints.
• Ability to handle and treat information confidentially.
• Ability to plan and organize work schedule and set priorities.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently.
• Ability to integrate instructional technology resources into district curriculum.
• Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills to lead teachers, parents, and members of the school community.
• Knowledge of best practice in instruction and assessment.
• Ability to author routine reports, analysis, and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively and succinctly before administrators, staff, parents, and students.
• Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with instructional programs such as Illustrative Mathematics, Agile Mind, Amplify, and Building Thinking Classrooms is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted, small-group and individualized math interventions to help students strengthen foundational skills and close achievement gaps.
• Use research-based instructional practices and intervention programs.
• Implement strategies from Building Thinking Classrooms and other evidence-based approaches to promote problem-solving, reasoning, and engagement.
• Assess student strengths and needs through diagnostic tools, progress monitoring, and formative assessments.
• Develop and adjust intervention plans based on ongoing data analysis and student progress.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to align interventions with grade-level standards, core instruction, and best practices.
• Coach and support teachers in implementing research-based math strategies, tools, and resources in their classrooms.
• Facilitate professional learning opportunities and model effective instructional strategies to build teacher capacity.
• Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and colleagues regarding student progress and strategies for support.
• Create a positive, supportive learning environment that fosters student confidence, independence, and a growth mindset.
• Maintain accurate documentation of student data, intervention plans, and progress monitoring.
• Stay current with best practices in math intervention and instructional coaching through professional learning.
• Participate as a member of the MTSS team to support students.
