About The Position

Marshall Public Schools serves over 2,600 PK-13 students across eight (8) school buildings throughout the Marshall and Albion communities. The paraprofessional will assist in the educational needs of students and serve as backup, when needed, to support the classroom in the absence of teachers.

Requirements

• Associates Degree; OR 60+ credit hours from a degree granting college/university
• Ability to receive a substitute permit from the State of Michigan
• Certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), preferred but not required
• Parental experience desired but not required
• Ability to work well with children and adults
• Maintain a general interest in helping children in their educational process
• Calm and patient demeanor

Responsibilities

• Assist in individual or small group pupil instruction
• Assist classroom teacher(s) in maintaining discipline and supervision in the classroom
• Assist in escorting students to and from various rooms, when necessary
• Demonstrate initiative and creativity with student(s)
• Serve as substitute teacher in the event of a lack of teacher coverage in the building
• Adhere to district health and safety procedures
• Perform other related duties that may be assigned by the principal and/or classroom teacher(s)
