About The Position

The position involves performing professional level instruction to students enrolled in GED preparation and TABE reading and math preparation classes, as well as high school diploma programs. The instructor is responsible for teaching social skills, employability skills, applied academics, and project-based learning. Key responsibilities include managing classroom environments, maintaining accurate attendance records, lesson planning, and ensuring student engagement. The instructor will also participate in team meetings, complete required training, and deliver necessary accommodations to students. The role requires effective communication with center departments and the ability to evaluate and record student progress.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university.
  • Certified to teach in the state where the center is located.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals and professional journals.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from various audiences.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram terms.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor TABE achievements and assist with student retention.
  • Participate in active shooter and fire drills.
  • Model and mentor appropriate workplace behavior.
  • Complete weekly reports as required.
  • Employ activities that build CSS and employability skills for students.
