About The Position

The primary duty of the Math Instructional Specialist is to support high quality tier 1 instruction, as well as provide and organize appropriate and specialized math instruction and services to identified students in order for them to meet grade-level expectations. The primary duty of the Math Instructional Paraprofessional is to support instruction in the classroom under the direction of a classroom or lead teacher, as well as assume other duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the building principal or administrator.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in elementary education (master's degree in Math preferred)
  • Minimum of three years experience teaching regular or special education
  • Applicants must have or be able to obtain a teaching certificate issued by the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board, considered endorsements to include Elementary, Math. (http://wyomingptsb.com/)

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Math preferred
  • Conversational Spanish preferred
  • ESL Certification preferred
  • Completion of PLC Coaching Academy preferred

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge and implementation support of core math resources (e.g., Bridges, Facts and Fracts) in classrooms and associated standards grades K-5.
  • Proficiency in using formative assessments, summative assessments and diagnostic assessments.
  • Strong knowledge of Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 instruction and interventions (including strategies and specific curricula).
  • Provides direct Tier 3 math intervention support.
  • Provides building level and district wide (K-5) professional development as needed.
  • Participates in school's MTSS team and facilitates the math progress monitoring and problem-solving processes to ensure appropriate supports for students.
  • Participates in building level PLCs, T2 instructional cycles, and other building-level teams.
  • Organizes and manages progress monitoring information and intervention plans for targeted students. This includes the ability to organize data and establish growth trajectories.
  • Collaborates with other Math Instructional Specialists and principals across the district.
  • Provides organized and timely progress information to classroom teachers, parents, students, and administration. Support the math school-wide screening processes and professional development.
  • Manage school duties and supervision responsibilities as assigned by the building principal or administrator.
