About The Position

The Math Coach position at the Eastern Campus involves providing comprehensive support and tracking for math students from the point of placement through completion of college-level math. The role includes outreach, communications, and ongoing coaching to create a human connection for students. The coach will facilitate non-credit seminars, monitor student performance, coordinate with the Enrollment Management team, compile data, and recommend processes to support students in math remediation. Collaboration with faculty and various departments is essential to provide individualized support and streamline processes related to pre-enrollment placement testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Minimum of three years of demonstrated relevant professional experience
  • Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team
  • Demonstrated experience requiring diverse problem-solving methods in a variety of situations
  • Possess basic knowledge of fundamental Math coaching concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Possess excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Possess strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Demonstrated creative thinker and a problem solver
  • Ability to work accurately with great attention to detail
  • Possess basic-level project management skills
  • Possess intermediate-level skills with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to confidentially and discreetly handle subject matters requiring privacy and sensitivity
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key contacts to enhance workflow and quality
  • Possess sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of students and the community

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in a related field
  • Demonstrated College teaching experience and/or background in Math
  • Demonstrated experience using online learning systems, such as ALEKS, ALEKS PPL, Pearson, and Blackboard
  • Demonstrated experience working at a community college
  • Demonstrated experience working with students in development Math
  • Demonstrated experience/expertise working with students with learning disabilities or special education

Responsibilities

  • Provides case management support from point of placement through completion of college-level math
  • Facilitates non-credit seminars and/or small group support for math remediation
  • Monitors student performance using various tools including online adaptive learning software and tutoring databases
  • Coordinates with Enrollment Management team for college-wide case management, outreach, and student progress tracking
  • Compiles data and presents reports on student progress
  • Recommends and refines processes to support students in math remediation
  • Supports students with technical components of creating accounts to access online tools
  • Guides students as they navigate through online resources for placement testing preparation
  • Collaborates with math faculty to support students within and outside the classroom
  • Plans and implements new targeted strategies for math students
  • May facilitate workshops in multiple formats and modes
  • Collaborates with Student and Academic Affairs colleagues to streamline pre-enrollment placement testing processes
  • May support the Assistant Dean/Director in management of math tutoring spaces
  • Works collaboratively with student peer tutors/coaches
  • Performs other duties as assigned
