About The Position

St. Mary’s Nativity School is seeking a knowledgeable, dedicated, and faith-fi lled Math / Algebra I Teacher to join our faculty. This educator will provide rigorous instruction in middle school mathematics, including Algebra I, while supporting the spiritual, academic, and personal growth of students. The ideal candidate will be a practicing Catholic who values academic excellence and is committed to the mission of Catholic education.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field
  • Valid Louisiana teaching certification or eligibility for certification in Mathematics or Secondary Education
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church
  • Strong content knowledge in mathematics and effective instructional practices
  • Excellent classroom management, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs
  • Proficiency in educational technology and digital instructional tools
  • Commitment to fostering both academic excellence and Catholic values

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching middle school math and/or Algebra I preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging mathematics instruction aligned with Louisiana state standards and diocesan curriculum guidelines
  • Teach courses that may include upper elementary math, middle school math, and Algebra I
  • Foster a structured, respectful, and Christ-centered classroom environment conducive to learning
  • Integrate Catholic faith and values into classroom culture and interactions
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies to support diverse learning styles and ability levels
  • Assess and monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments
  • Maintain accurate records of grades, assignments, and student performance
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with parents regarding academic progress and student needs
  • Prepare students with strong foundational skills for future success in higher-level mathematics
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administration, and support staff to enhance student achievement
  • Supervise students to ensure safety and well-being at all times
  • Participate in school events, faculty meetings, and professional development opportunities
  • Uphold the policies and procedures of St. Mary’s Nativity School and the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux
