About The Position

Lifesteps is excited to add a new service in the Western PA area. We are creating a team of staff to support pregnant moms and their child through their first 18 months of life. The Maternal Health Specialist works to assist mothers with: scheduling and attending well-baby appointments assess infant and women care and home supports monitor infant developmental stages offer guidance, education and referrals to parents, as appropriate, to achieve positive support outcomes check in through the home visiting program. The Maternal Health Specialist Home Visitor position includes driving to the family home for check in visits using an Agency Vehicle. Topics discussed are: expectant mother and newborn baby health, education, nutrition, child growth and development, postpartum wellness, and well-baby follow-ups. In addition, the full-time roles provide case management documentation and reports for the MCO's and supervisors.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Child Development, Human Services, Social Work, Early Childhood Education (or a related field such as Family Relations, Sociology, Women's Studies, etc) OR High School Diploma/GED with a home-based CDA credential or comparable credential.
  • Demonstrate competency to plan and implement home-based learning experiences that ensure effective implementation of the home visiting curriculum
  • Knowledge in infant/toddler development/education/health/nutrition/safety as well as family dynamics and adult learning principles.
  • Must be able to secure, within 90 days of hire, and maintain the basic first aid and pediatric CPR certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete basic computer tasks or Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Current driver’s license and the ability to travel for business utilizing an Agency Vehicle

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year experience in Early Education, Early Childhood Development, Children Services, Social Work, Women's Health, Case Management, Wellness Educator, Community Health Advocate or related field
  • Bilingual English/Spanish speaking
