Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.
• At least one year of clinical nursing and previous experience in maternal-child nursing preferred.
• Licensed RN in the state of Colorado.
• Valid Driver’s license and current automobile insurance.
• Reliable transportation.
• Current CPR and NRP certifications.
• CLC (Certified Lactation Counselor) required, IBCLC preferred or obtained within first 2 years of hire.

Nice To Haves

• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates breastfeeding management for patients in inpatient and outpatient settings by utilizing the nursing process.
• Provides holistic, evidence-based breastfeeding support and care from prenatal period to weaning for women and their families.
• Acts as an advocate for breastfeeding as the child-feeding norm.
• Provides support for patients, proactively suggests strategies for breastfeeding, and addresses patient issues and concerns
• Provides outpatient care, consultation and home visits for families experiencing breastfeeding difficulties
• Acts as a clinical expert/resource for staff on subjects related to lactation including the current standards of practice
• Participate in the development of educational programs and assess the educational needs of health care providers.
• Act as a liaison for support of families going through a miscarriage, stillbirth, or loss of their child.
