About The Position

The Maternal/Child Community Educator is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing educational programs and initiatives. This role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, developing curriculum, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality educational experiences for families The Educator works under the direct supervision of the nurse manager within the Snuggery unit. The Educator is responsible for demonstrating and understanding of the theoretical basis of nursing and serves as a clinical resource and role model within his/her area of expertise. The Educator continuously engages in environmental scanning to identify learning opportunities for nurses to support professional role growth and optimal care.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State
  • BLS Certification Required
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of adult teaching and learning principles
  • Demonstrated ability to teach individuals and groups of learners.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with patients and professionals of all disciplines.
  • 3 years of clinical experience required, preferably in a Maternal/Child nursing setting

Nice To Haves

  • Specialty Certification preferred-IBCLC International Board Certified Lactation Consultant
  • 1 year of education program coordination and teaching experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive educational programs aligned with organizational goals and objectives
  • Create engaging curriculum and lesson plans that cater to diverse learner needs
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure the accuracy and relevance of education content
  • Coordinate and oversee the execution of educational programs, workshops, and events.
  • Recruit and train facilitators and volunteers.
  • Manage program logistics
  • Develop and implement evaluation methods to measure the effectiveness of educational programs.
  • Analyze program data to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations for future enhancements
  • Prepare reports and documentation related to educational programs
  • Manage educational records and databases
  • Stay up to date on organizational trends and best practices in nursing and perinatal community education content.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor: teaching and certifying healthcare professionals
