Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, social service, or related field; or Licensed Practical Nurse with current Illinois license.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in maternal and child health or related social services field with pregnant women and/or young children.
  • Knowledge of maternal-infant health and child abuse/neglect dynamics.
  • Familiarity with health resources in Will and surrounding counties.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Passage of background clearance, physical, and TB test, with valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of liability insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual Spanish oral and written skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implement US Department of Health and Human Services Head Start program performance standards.
  • Manage case load for Expectant Mother’s Initiative, providing guidance and technical assistance.
  • Conduct recruitment activities, maintaining a census of 26 pregnant or postpartum women.
  • Develop and maintain record-keeping and reporting systems.
  • Implement prenatal and postnatal curricula, informing parents of community health resources.
  • Assist expectant mothers with appointments and home visits.
  • Conduct training for expectant mothers and families, investigating health-related issues.
  • Promote preventative health services and early intervention, monitoring activities.
  • Assist women and children in obtaining dental and medical services and determining financial eligibility for program enrollment.
  • Ensure prenatal and postnatal medical exams are completed, maintaining compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned within the guidelines of this position.
