Westmoreland Mechanical Testing & Research is looking to fill our Test Technician role. In this position you will perform a variety of quality, customized tests which will analyze materials to determine strength, stability, purity, chemical content, and other characteristics, to identify any performance/reliability issues with the material. This is a great opportunity for motivated individuals who want a chance to work in a fast-paced environment and learn some new skills, all within the Latrobe/Youngstown, PA area. No experience necessary! Training is provided.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship required
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Willingness to learn
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • The ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Ability to stand, sit, or move around for prolonged periods of time

Nice To Haves

  • Mechanically inclined individuals preferred
  • Experience working with blueprints preferred

Responsibilities

  • Sets up laboratory equipment and instrumentation required for tests, research, or process control
  • Performs a variety of quality, customized tests which will analyze materials to determine strength, stability, purity, chemical content, and other characteristics, in order to identify any performance/reliability issues with the material
  • Organizes and maintains the test lab
  • Safely operates tools such as a band saw, grinder, sander, polisher and mounting machinery
  • Maintains detailed records of test results
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned
