About The Position

Quanex is looking for a Materials Team Lead to join our team located in Kent, Washington. The Materials Team Lead is responsible for working as part of a team, within the extrusion process, to lead a team responsible for providing materials coverage with a variety of activities related to both the Compound and Recycle areas. This is a full-time 40-hour a week position with flexible start and stop times, depending upon business needs.

Requirements

  • Previous compounding/mixing experience within an industrial manufacturing environment, including operating forklifts; certification required.
  • Solid mathematical abilities and reasoning skills.
  • Solid knowledge of OSHA safety standards, and Statistical Process Controls (SPC).
  • Good problem solving with the ability to resolve moderate issues and adapt quickly to changing assignments.
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to oversee material organization, and schedule team activities in accordance with production requirements.
  • Good reading and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization.
  • Good computer proficiency with the ability to use job related software programs, including Metr 6000, and SAP.
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs frequently.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cycle counts of raw, semi-finished, and finished goods items on daily schedule, as determined by ERP system.
  • Identify potential count related errors prior to submitting for adjustment. Assist managers with reconciliation for the adjustment. Alert purchasing of shortages, outages, or overstocks as soon as they are discovered. Update SPC charts at the time of posting cycle count adjustments.
  • Assist with additional inventory transactions to ensure completion such as material movements, material to material transfers to correct discrepancies, and adjustments to inventory such as blocking stock and removing OSMI from the system.
  • Perform compound material transfer duties when necessary.
  • Record/print inventory activity information.
  • Organize and place scrap in desired location in recycle loading and unloading area.
  • Oversee and communicate recycle task from Production Manager to Recyclers.
  • Operate color station, as necessary.
  • Hook up railcar hoses.
  • Weigh and record weight of scrap materials.
  • Transport gaylords of powder/regrind material to and from lines or other designated areas.
  • Fill gaylords and bins with materials and compounds
