Responsibilities

  • Maintains item masters for purchasing parts, equipment, and materials
  • Monitors data entry and follows up on standards violations regarding item master issues
  • Develops supplier resource base by researching current and potential supplier’s ability to supply parts, equipment, and materials within acceptable cost, time, and quality tolerances
  • Participates in supplier visits and evaluations, obtains samples, and schedules product demonstrations
  • Prepares supplier reports to document and analyze cost, quality, vendor reliability, lead times, and other information
  • Maintains regular contact with suppliers and prepares and submits purchase orders
  • Follows procedures to verify cost, delivery, quality, and inventory balance
  • Leads efforts to reduce material costs and negotiates supplier agreements on behalf of Columbia
  • Manages inventory turnover by determining maximum and minimum inventory levels and reorder quantities
  • Understands and documents internal and external customer needs and expectations
  • Communicates to appropriate team(s) when an expectation will not be met
  • Addresses defective equipment or materials with vendors and resolve disputes
  • Organizes rework or replacements for defective parts
  • releases product structures and work orders per MPS
  • adds and manages parts on BOM after engineering release
  • verifies, costs and closes work orders
  • Documents processes and procedures, eliminates non-value added activities, and participates in weekly CI team meetings
  • Establishes personal networks, participates in professional societies, attends professional workshops and reviews publications
  • Willing to attempt new assignments or fill in for others as needed; accomplishes other duties as assigned
