About The Position

The Materials Supervisor provides area leadership and direct supervision to all Materials Picking/Handling leads and employees, coordinating the flow of materials and through the IEA manufacturing facility. In addition, the Supervisor will perform all Materials Picking/Handling procedures as necessary. The Materials Supervisor receives limited direction from the Warehouse Operations Manager, develops work plans by combining long-term company strategies with specific assignments, and resolves most problems independently. The Supervisor is directly responsible for the safety, performance, efficiency, utilization, on-time delivery, and quality of all work in the Picking/Handling department and is expected to constantly monitor and help control labor and material costs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following with other duties assigned as necessary: Direct and oversee all staff and operations of First and Second Shift Materials’ Pickers—responsible for all employees, processes, equipment, time, and production records. Schedules employees and plans workflow according to production capabilities and schedule. Supervises Materials Picking/Handling leads and employees for both shifts, assumes administrative duties not limited to attendance point system record keeping, time off request forms, promotion, and transfer forms, disciplinary, training rosters, and coaching forms. Oversee and ensure execution of daily material picking of raw materials. Troubleshoot production related problems and monitor and maintain performance of departments to meet or exceed KPI goals. Works collaboratively with the Warehouse Supervisor. Between the Warehouse and Materials Supervisors, they will ensure that materials are always delivered on time and per the Materials Planning schedule picking requests. Hire, train, coach, motivate, and mentor team members. Develop and implement training documentation, work instructions, onboarding procedures, and employee development plans. Collaborate with IEA’s Human Resources, Engineering, Production, Planning, Purchasing, Warehouse, and Manufacturing Engineering departments. Participate in all production meetings, generate, publish, and present weekly and monthly KPI reports, and review schedule status daily. Initiates/reviews job orders (written or verbal) and establishes/interprets manufacturing specifications. Upholds safety rules, work rules, company policies, counsels’ employees, and initiates disciplinary measures where appropriate. Monitors work-in-progress and spot-checks completed work to ensure that standards are met. Advises company management on Materials Picking/Handling related issues and recommends changes. Identifies and corrects problems and inefficiencies in process, materials, equipment, or skills. Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, and organizational laws, regulations, guidelines, and best practices including those related to safety and health. Train all employees to maintain staff proficiency in all area tasks. Ensures that work areas, equipment and other tools of the trade are clean and properly maintained. Works in a safe manner at all times, ensures that safety rules are followed without exception and participates in all Company safety programs and initiatives. Ensures that all work is done in accordance with and adherence to IEA’s ISO and Quality standards. Responsible for employee timecard and time management in company’s HRIS system. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate (oral/written) with internal and external customers and others effectively.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive external relationships (in person/phone/e-mail).
  • Ability to use critical thinking skills to resolve complex or ambiguous problems.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Power point
  • Ability to manage time effectively to deliver consistent and timely results.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and the ability to follow safe work practices.
  • Understanding ERP software.
  • Five more years of warehouse operations related administrative experience.
  • Associates degree in related field, or equivalent industry work experience required
  • Forklift operator certification and valid driver’s license.
