Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience using engineering or manufacturing tools, equipment and/or instruments.
  • Prior experience operating a personal computer for word processing, spreadsheet, and/or database applications.
  • Prior experience with evaluating construction materials.
  • Concrete Field Technician Level I certification.
  • Must pass or have passed the written examination for the Concrete Batch Plant Operator qualification.
  • Must have a valid class 'E' Florida driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field and/or laboratory testing in accordance with applicable Florida Sampling and testing Methods (FSTM), AASHTO or ASTM test methods.
  • Inspect materials in the field during Construction, Maintenance or Design to determine compliance with Department contract and procedural documents.
  • Inspect component materials and completed materials for compliance with FDOT specifications.
  • Perform Independent Assurance evaluations as described in Department procedures and the Federal Aid Policy Guide.
  • Analyze materials data for contract and procedural compliance and take timely action to correct any errors.
  • Provide materials related technical support to customers and guidance as needed.
  • Review Quality Control plans, Construction plans, specifications, procedures and coordinate the review of the Materials portion of the Contractor’s QC plan.
