The ideal candidate has experience working in highly regulated technical environments and thrives in fast-paced, innovation-driven settings.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or M.S. in Materials Science, Nuclear Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related field
  • 5–10 years of experience in advanced materials R&D within nuclear, aerospace, defense, or similarly regulated industries
  • Expertise in high-temperature materials, ceramics, coatings, and metal alloys
  • Experience with additive manufacturing, powder metallurgy, or sintering processes
  • Familiarity with irradiation effects, radiation damage mechanisms, and corrosion behavior
  • Strong analytical, experimental, and technical communication skills
  • U.S. citizenship or eligibility for security clearance may be required

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and characterization of advanced materials for high-temperature and high-reliability applications
  • Evaluate material performance under extreme environments including elevated temperature, radiation exposure, and corrosive conditions
  • Support integration of advanced manufacturing methods, including metal additive manufacturing and powder-based processing
  • Perform microstructural and mechanical characterization using techniques such as SEM, EDS, XRD, and tensile testing
  • Contribute to fuel-form and coating material development initiatives
