Potential exists for growth into a Lead Materials Development Engineer within a 5-10 year timeframe.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Materials Science, Polymer Science, or Chemical Engineering
  • Materials testing experience in a laboratory environment
  • Coursework or experience in Polymer Science, Materials Characterization, Polymer Rheology preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with materials characterization techniques with preference for tensile and fatigue testing
  • Must enjoy hands-on work
  • Ability to multi-task and adjust priorities based on needs of the business
  • Proficient in basic computer functions (Office, web)
  • Excellent communication, time-management, and documentation skills

Responsibilities

  • Work in a materials and quality laboratory next to the production floor
  • Perform testing of optical fibers to characterize their physical, mechanical and optical properties.
  • Work with senior engineers to develop new UV curable materials and processes for optical fiber applications
  • Draft reports, power point presentations, present results in team meetings
  • Work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to work under high pressure and manage challenging deadlines
