About The Position

The Materials Intern will directly support the Materials department in their daily responsibilities and operational dealings of Allegiant Travel Company. The role will interface with the Manager of Material Purchasing, Repairs, AOG, Accounting, and FP&A and different Service Providers to resolve and address various accounting and operational issues at various locations (primarily Allegiant maintenance bases) as per the guidance provided by Director Material Services. Requirements

  • Combination of Education and Experience will be considered.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US as defined by the Immigration Act of 1986.
  • Must pass a Criminal Background Check.
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree recent graduate or currently pursuing degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, STEM majors or related field.
  • To be qualified to apply intern candidates should be currently enrolled in a college or university, or a recent graduate within the last six months with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Sound knowledge of MS Access, MS Excel, and MS Power Point.
  • Self-starter, problem solver and possess creativity to help in reducing the workload of data entry and Purchasing Order or Repairs Order creation/execution.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Innate interest in airline supply chain management and keen motivation to learn.
  • Sound problem solving and structured yet unconstrained thinking capability.
  • Ability to create spreadsheet models and produce relevant outputs.
  • Prior history of working with large data sets and extrapolating useful information.
  • Interest/experience in business, economic and/or math.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge in airline economics and aviation industry.

Responsibilities

  • Source and procure parts and materials for Line Maintenance and Heavy Check.
  • Procure parts in the manner that is most beneficial to Allegiant. Conduct inventory analysis and initiate transfer of available stock, expedite from repair vendor, execute a loan/borrow agreement, or submit RFQ for purchase or core exchange from the vendor.
  • Assist the Materials Department in preparing different slides for the presentations and carrying out different studies and analyses on various issues being faced by the airline.
  • Communicate with Accounting and vendors to understand and resolve operational issues thru email and phone calls.
  • Maintain Part Status documentation in Master Materials Database and back-end ERP system.
  • Manage procurement of aircraft material for Allegiant. Gather pricing for upcoming projects including supplier information and part number clarification.
  • Measure Vendor performance: develop key performance indicators, monitor stock availability, delivery, paperwork, warranty issues, responsiveness, bad from stock, etc.
  • Identify performance gaps, work with Suppliers to determine root causes, and develop and implement effective solutions. Follow-up on implementation plans to ensure compliance and positive results.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements that are beneficial to the Company. Develop and maintain business relationships with Suppliers used by Allegiant and cultivate new opportunities for procurement and savings as guided by the assigned team Lead/Manager.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.
