About The Position

The Materials Project Manager is responsible for driving transformational change using Lean processes, methods and tools. This position leads key change management initiatives and projects to improve business process maturity levels. In this highly visible role, this individual will be collaborating across functions and be part of the materials management team as a key interface into Program and Product Management, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Finance and Operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering discipline
  • Certification in production and inventory management preferred
  • Experience with rate-based or flow line (non-MRP) and job shop manufacturing environments
  • Experience in operations, inventory management, MRP and lean manufacturing processes
  • Experience with visual management systems
  • Knowledge of personal computer applications required (Excel, Outlook, Word, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Six sigma Green/Black Belt certification preferred
  • PMP certification preferred
  • 2-5 years of project management and/or manufacturing experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide materials management project leadership for activities such as VMI implementations, Supplier Transitions, VA/VE, footprint transitions, and new product introductions
  • Lead continuous improvement activities and kaizen events
  • Lead and drive performance excellence improvement by developing or re-engineering key materials management processes (planning, scheduling, inventory control, and material flow)
  • Develop, implement and drive adherence to standard work
  • Utilize lean manufacturing tools to identify safety, quality, delivery, and cost savings opportunities
  • Lead key initiatives and projects to 'Right Size' Inventory levels
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Mentor and coach the site Materials Management team in the use of lean processes, methods, & tools
  • Demonstrate organizational skills to manage multiple priorities at once
  • Engage individuals across all levels within the organization
  • Act as a proactive change agent and possess leadership skills to build and maintain a team-oriented environment while leveraging lean methodologies
  • Provide dedicated support of internal customer requirements
  • Interact with various departments throughout the organization
  • Find solutions to non-routine problems to meet customer needs
