About The Position
We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to work at our St. Albans, VT location as a Materials Production Technician. This position will be a direct support role bridging between production, maintenance, and engineering needs for STC's kiln and thermal processes. Technicians are an essential component of our initiatives to improve product quality, process efficiency, and overall productivity. The role is hands-on and is very machine-centric. The Materials Technician performs all job duties within the work cell including material batching, mixing, molding, part preparation, kiln loading, in-process inspection, and secondary machining operations as necessary to efficiently produce quality ceramic components. The Materials Production Technician is responsible for proactively supporting a culture of safety and quality as top organizational priorities. This includes following all work instructions carefully, safely operating all production equipment, and staying focused while carrying out multiple tasks. The technician monitors the operation of the machines to meet end product specifications and is capable of doing machine setups and cleaning operations. They are also qualified by QA to perform production sign-offs and check the quality of the product in both unfired and fired states using the tools provided. In addition, the technician identifies non-conforming products and escalates or communicates as necessary. They fill out process sheets and batch logs, accurately count individual production, and log in/out of our MRP/Barcode system. Keeping the work area neat and organized is essential, as is basic troubleshooting to resolve or report faulty operations, defective materials, and unusual conditions to engineering. The technician may also be required to bring finished parts to the next department or sequence area and perform a variety of other machining operations in any one of STC's three other production locations as required.
