  • 5+ years of experience in polymer materials development, polymer processing, and/or product development.
  • Must be highly hands-on and comfortable working directly with polymeric and additive materials, prototypes, and lab-scale equipment throughout the development
  • Strong experience in polymeric materials related products and test methods, preferably in technologies encompassing filtration, separation, or purification.
  • Proficiency in statistical software/analysis and Microsoft Office Suite is needed
  • Experience in commercialization of products (or product sub-components) through stage-gate processes in regulated industries (e.g. life sciences, automotive, health case, diagnostics, air care markets).
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to travel 10-20% as needed for supplier or customer visits.

Nice To Haves

  • Product development and launch experience in an ISO9001and/or ISO13485 environment would be a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead resin characterization, resin qualification, and change management activities to ensure continuity of supply and performance.
  • Evaluate and screen new supplier materials for performance, quality, regulatory compliance and cost.
  • Oversee resin grinding, sieving, conveying milling, blending, dust-collection, compounding and preparation steps required for downstream processing.
  • Conduct pilot trials, scale-up trials and full-scale production trials, including data capture, risk assessment, and validation.
  • Develop and optimize polymer processing equipment including sintering, melt extrusion, melt blowing, compression molding, injection molding, and post-processing operations.
  • Establish structure-processing-property relationships to guide formulation and process selection.
  • Troubleshoot processing issues, yield loss, and field performance deviations using structured root cause analysis.
  • Partner with operations to transition materials and processes from lab to manufacturing and to optimize cycle time, throughput, scrap and material utilization.
  • Qualify new tooling, equipment, and suppliers to meet product and manufacturing requirements.
  • Generate technical documents including processing specifications, control plans, validation protocols, and reports.
  • Formulate and evaluate polymer materials for porous media, filtration, separation, or other performance-critical applications.
  • Translate customer needs into material attributes, specifications, and test plans.Conduct lab-scale experimentation including resin selection, additives, surface treatments, and coating strategies.
  • Apply material characterization tools such as laser diffraction, bulk density measurements, DSC, TGA, DMA, FTIR, SEM, rheology and porometry to establish structure–property relationships.
  • Drive material down-selection and qualification based on manufacturability, performance, durability, safety and cost.
  • Engage directly with resin suppliers to understand chemistries, stabilizers, regulatory aspects and long-term supply considerations.
  • Support trial planning, application testing, validation, and documentation needed for commercialization.
  • Contribute to intellectual property where novel materials or processes deliver differentiating value.
